New study: Three Korean makes rule the initial car dependability roost
Each year, J.D. Power conducts research into new vehicle initial quality which usually vehicles will be the most trustworthy 90 days when they leave the dealership lot.
The results of the J.D. 2018 U.S. Initial Quality Study should bolster new car buyers’ hearts. That’s because J.D. Power noted a 4% increase in new vehicle quality since last year’s findings were released. In actual fact, reliability have been around the upswing since 2014.
Leading the rest this season were three Korean nameplates – Genesis, Kia and Hyundai – which all had far fewer reported problems per 100 vehicles versus industry average.

There’s more room for improvement as auto tech ramps up
While it is the fourth year successively that reliability round the new vehicle industry has risen, you can find some troublesome areas that J.D. Power says have to be addressed.
For example, a has created great strides in cutting problems with built-in voice recognition systems. Yet Audio/Communication/Entertainment/Navigation is still most problem-prone part of a car or truck for the new car owner.

Otherwise, automakers are not going to easily overcome consumer effectiveness against fully automated (driverless) cars.”

Meanwhile, there’s another survey J.D. Power does that money expert Clark Howard believes is far more important versus the initial quality study.
It’s simply known as the U.S. Vehicle Dependability Study also it measures the number of problems owners report with regards to their three-year-old vehicles.
Given Clark’s bias you buy a two to three-year-old auto instead of new vehicle, it’s not too difficult to view why the buyer champ favors this long-term measurement covering the initial dependability stats.
So after several years of ownership, the nameplates when using the fewest volume of reported problems per 100 vehicles include Lexus, Porsche, Buick, Infiniti and Kia.
On one other end of the spectrum, Chrysler, Land Rover, Fiat, Jeep and Cadillac develop the most reported problems per 100 vehicles through the first 36 months that they’re with your driveway.
